Shoaib Mansoor who directed Khuda ke Liye(2009) has choosen Atif Aslam(debut) as the lead actor in his second Urdu venture named BOL.The music directors are :Shoaib Mansoor, Atif Aslam, Sarmad Ghafoor, Sajjad Ali.Being the debut movie of Atif Aslam I expected overdoze of Atif's voice, but surprisingly Atif has sung and composed only 2 tracks out of the 8 tracks which includes 1 Unplugged(named film version) and 1 background music.
Album starts with Hona Tha Pyar(Atif Aslam & Hadiqa Kiana),the song starts well with beautiful guitar tunes and Atif's voice, but its too soft a number for a singer like Atif,he is known more for his high pitched voice and out-of-the-world alaaps. Its more of a Mohit Chauhan genre, still its a decent hear.
Amazing!!,that was my expression when I heard the 2nd track Din Pareshan hai(composed & sung by Sajjad Ali),its a peaceful song and the voice of Sajjad Ali took me to the days of Bappi LehriI(his voice resembles a bit too Bappi Da).The song is philosophical in nature describing the frustations and difficulties we face in life and still we love our zindagi. The song reminds me of Sau gram Zindagi(Guzaarish) due to the theme of the song. The song makes you wanting for more as it is just close to 3 minutes.
No wonder the song is repeated in the album as the Film version, and I wonder why is it named so,as this one is more of an unplugged version with the same lyrics and singer and is slow in pace compared to the original song. Its more inclined towards the Sad zone, but anyways both the tracks are must hear.
The 3rd track named Dila Janiya(Hadiqa Kiani) is a good composition with urdu lyrics being used in the stanza's.Hadiqa Kiani does a good job behind the mike, the only minus is the English Rap she does in the starting,I mean why to spoil such a beautiful composition by trying to give it a western touch.
As one moves forward,A perfect Nazm is waiting, named Saiyan Bole(Shabnam Majid,Sahir Ali Bugga,Bina Jawed) which is composed by Shoaib Mansoor himself. Its for the Niche, not everyone will love the Jugalbandi and style of the song. The song provides good variety to the album.I loved it.
Mumkin hai(Ahmed Jahanzeb & Shuja haider) is an average composition, neither brilliant nor bad.A perfect love song to be included in a bollywood movie.I don't think the song will have a long shelf life.
Atif Aslam comes back with a bang in Kaho aaj bol do,sung and composed by Atif Aslam with support from Hadiqa Kiani, its a perfect Atif's genre with high pitched notes and drum beats, however the song seems a fusion of hum kis gali ja rahe hai & doorie sahi jaye na from Atif's album DOORIE.
Certainly its the best track of the album and will be a perfect tool to promote the movie.
The last track is Bol Background score(Baqir Abbas),and it disappoints in all aspects. Its way too lengthy for an instrumental with no High-Points.SKIP.
The album has a lot of variety for the music lovers, but Except Din Pareshan hai and Kaho Aaj bol do,all other songs will grow with multiple hearings.Good attempt.
