A zombie-comedy film (Zom-Com) set in Goa with lots of drugs and
grass, "Go Goa
Gone" promises an
insane, crazy ride and on the same line the soundtrack of the movie has been
composed by the talented, underutilized duo of Sachin-Jigar who are still
waiting for that 'Super hit' tag having passed almost half a decade in the
industry. The trailer of the song 'Slowly
Slowly' has got huge
appreciation and the listeners are expecting some more unconstrained, youthful
tunes from the Ost considering the genre it belongs to, with only five
originals, one expects a lot more as the hard work being put on just these five
songs. Let's see if the soundtrack has the capability to intoxicate the listeners!
The very first song "Slowly Slowly" is all about getting doped and
drunk, the three minutes are full of funky, techno creative arrangements with
Jigar Saraiya and Talia Bentson providing the required hook to the song with
their spirited vocals although most of the part belongs to the arrangements and
the chorus. The lyrics by Priya Panchal are fresh and apt for the genre that
the movie belongs to. Although at places one feels that the song is inspired
from 'Mit Jaaye Gham' ('Dum Maaro Dum'-2011), ought to be considering the
overall theme of the song: Goa, Drugs, Rave Party. Nevertheless, a party song
that will be a hit among the youth!
The second track"Khoon
Choos Le" is
situational to the core and belongs to Amitabh Bhattacharya for some whacky
lyrics that stylishly define the 'Pain-of-Monday' for working people, Suraj
Jagan, Priya Panchal and Arjun Kanungo does well for their respective parts.
The name itself 'Khoon Choos Le' was expected to be something related to zombies
but it's completely opposite and lands in the humor genre taking Monday by it
neck. The arrangements gives a heard before feeling of Sachin-Jigar very own
'Karma Is a Bitch' from 'Shor In The City' but only at few places and they
certainly deserves applause for such imaginative composition..Innovation at his
best!
Moving on, get prepared for
some more dope and drugs in form of "Babaji
Ki Booty" which is hilarious to the core perfectly defining
the state of mind of people who gets intoxicated by drugs and creates an
imaginative world of their own. The conversational lyrics once again makes this
a winner, sung by Sachin-Jigar with support from Bornalee Deuri along with
Kunal Khemu and Vir Das, it certainly makes you laugh a bit and reminds you of
'O Teri' from the movie 'Faltu'. This one is for the visuals and will be really
interesting to see how it’s being pictured in the movie. Real fun!
"Khushamdeed" by Shreya Ghoshal is a soft poetic ordinary number that
offers nothing special both on the musical and lyrical aspects. Average!
"I Keel Dead
Peepal" is a techno fast paced instrumental
describing the character of Saif Ali Khan in the movie. Almost 2 minutes, it’s
a waste, although it gives a feel of a thriller-horror at places but still
nothing monumental.
All in All, the soundtrack is
situational and more inclined towards drugs and dope focusing the youth.
'Slowly Slowly' will be a success commercially, 'Khoon Choos Le' and 'Babaji Ki
Booty' are creative and brings on a comic genre to the soundtrack, but lacks
the commercial aspect and repeat value where it would only be enjoyable
alongside the video. Of course, a soundtrack like this does have a restricted
audience for itself but in the context of the film, it would fit in pretty
well.
All actors did good job but kunal rocks. Good direction, seems like an experimental movie.Good comedy, nice action in short watchable movie :)
