Chillar Party : Music Review

Rating:★ ★ ★
Chillar party as the name suggests,a movie based on kids, already limits the scope for music, not everyone could produce sountracks like that of Taare Zameen Par(Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy).
For this venutre ,the path-breaking musician,Amit Trivedi, takes up the job,who has given hits like Dev D, Aisha,Udaan,No one killed Jessica and few more. When the name reads Amit Trivedi, one expects something innovative and high on lyrics.Chillar party offers 8 tracks with 7 originals and 1 sad vesrion and surprisingly no remixes at all(good).
The album starts with a tapori number Tai Tai Phish which has Amit Trivedi & Jaishree Trivedi behind the mike with Ranbir Kapoor doing an item number in the video.Amit trivedi has gone a bit south in this one due to the drum arrangements which gives a feeling of Dhinka Chika(Ready) solely on the music front. The song defines the carefree attitude in a tapori style.A good number which will get more ears due to Ranbir making a special appearence in the song.

The 2nd track Aa rela hai apun,is a mere sequel to the earlier song Tai Tai Phish, the only difference is that Armaan Malik,Tanmay Chaudhari,Amitabh Bhattacharya & Arvind Vishwakarma joins in with Amit Trivedi  as the vocalist. The song offers nothing different from the 1st track, lyrics are almost the same.
After a fast pacy start comes the best track of the album Chatte Batte sung by none other than Mohit Chauhan. The song is an instant catch due to Mohit's voice(does he ever disappoints?) and the sweet-innocent lyrics like Yeh to murgiyon ke chooze se, sang ek dooje ke,Idhar udhar titar-bitar daudte phirein.
No wonder Chatte Batte comes again as a Sad Version in the end with Mohit Chauhan doing an unplugged version of about 2 minutes.Nothing much to hear in this one.

I was waiting desperately for Amit Trivedi trademark style and Ziddi Piddi just stands tall on my expectations with Amit Trivedi,Armaan Malik,Tanmay Chaudhari & Gaurika Rai doing the vocals. Its the style for which Amit Trivedi is known for,a rocky-techno-new age music. The album goes situational from here on and all the songs will add direction to the narration of the movie.

Remember In Panchiyoon ko dekhkar from Koi Mil Gaya, here comes Ek School Banana Hai with the similar innocence, sung by Gaurika Rai,Keshav Rai,Firoza & Students of Ajivasan School. The songs is brilliantly written and brilliantly sung with a strong message.Children with their sweet, innocent voice will make you fall in love with the song and make you understand the pain that the song wants to convey.Hats off to Amit Trivedi for composing such a tune.A must hear.

As the next track, Behla Do,starts, one hears the same tune as in Ziddi Piddi being played but on different instruments. Its sung by Armaan Malik & Firoza and focuses on  how the kids are being Behla & Fusla by the guardians as Bacho ka dard koi Dard hi nai.Again the lyrics are a big plus for the song and will work well along the narration in the movie.

Liar Liar Pants on fire,no its not the polygraph machine, its the next song in the album which has vocals in english by Gaurika Rai & Keshav Rai.In the first hearing, the song will sound unusual, but with multiple hearings, the innocence with which its being sung will catch your attention and the sweet humming line Liar Liar Pants on Fire will take you back to your childhood days. The song if listened carefully has the power to bring tears in your eyes with some brilliant english lyrics and some brilliant singing.A song that will have a shelf life for sure.
All in All,Amit Trivedi provides some nice tracks that will help the movie do better on the whole. While Chatte Batte and Tai Tai Phish will get instant attraction,Ek school banana hai and Liar Liar Pants on fire will gain popularity depending on how they are being used in the movie. Its not an easy task to create music for a movie based on Baccha Log and all the tracks in Chillar Party makes sense and should reach everbody.I strongly recommend this album to everyone.

Music Review:Zindagi Na Milegi Dubara

Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★

The wait is over,Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy(S.E.L) are back with a bang with the music of Zindagi Na Milegi Dubara. When a movie has Farhan Akhtar named to it,S.E.L is a must,be it Dil Chahta hai,Lakshya,Don,Rock On. S.E.L hardly disappoints. For this movie they have composed a total of 9 tracks, including 7 massive originals and 2 remixes.Keeping in mind the theme of the movie, all the songs are young and fresh and will for sure be chartbusters in the coming days.
If you think that the title song of Rock On was the best, comes Dil Dhadakne Do crooned by Shankar Mahadevan,Suraj Jagan,Joi Barua. Its fresh, energetic, motivational(in parts) and starts with some perfect rock beats. It matches perfectly with the title of the movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dubara and will click at the first go,however the song has a feel of Rock On attached to it due to its care-free lyrics but it will top the charts neverthless in the coming days.

Next is Ik Junoon (Paint it Red),a Fast-Pacy HingLish dance number, which is making roars at present due to the tomato holi being played in the song,is sung by 5 singers,Shankar Mahadevan,Vishal dadlani,Ehsaaan Noorani,Alyssa Mendonsa,Gulraj Singh. Its a trademark S.E.L tune which will take some time to settle in,and once it does, you will get addicted to it and will be hard to keep away.Brilliant work again.

After 2 brilliant tracks, comes a slow ordinary composition,Khaabon Ke Parindey which has Alyssa Mendonsa and Mohit Chauhan behind the mike.A song close to 4 minutes will make you impatient for the first 3 minutes as there is no Mohit chauhan in the 1st 3 minutes,he is heard only in the last 1 minute, that made me a bit disappointed, not that the song is bad,but more of Mohit could have make it even better. An average track which will find little space in between such fantastic charbusters.

Next track,Senorita, will leave you SpellBound. Its a salsa number in S.E.L style for which Farhan Akhar,Hrithik Roshan,Abhay deol has lend their voice with ample support from spanish singer Maria Del Mar Fernandez. All the 3 actors will make you fall in love with the song with their innocence and naughtiness.Hrithik and Farhan have already sung in Kites and Rock On but the surprise element comes in form of Abhay Deol,he is fantastic in the few lines he has been given. The song is a pure gem and Kuddoos to S.E.L for composing such a masterpiece.I am dyng ro see the the picturisation of the song where all the 3 actors will be seen doing salsa.A glimpse of the song has alreay been seen in the trailor.Marvelleous.

Variety is the U.S.P of a S.E.L album, thats what Der Lagi Lekin provides.A song close to 6 minutes for which Shankar Mahadevan comes behind the mike. Its a bit philophical from the lyrics point and looks a track straight out of his previous venture,Taare Zameen Par.The song is high on lyrics and will require multiple hearings to grow on you.All in all a good track.

Loy Mendonsa,Dominique Cerejo,Clinton Cerejo are the names you read for the next track Sooraj Ki Baahon Mein, and with the fusion of these 3 singers one expects a Techno,Soft-rock song and thats what this song is all about.A decent hear which will be popular once the video is released.

The last original composition,To Zinda ho Tum, is nothing but a narration of few lines by Farhan Akhtar(mere 50 seconds, rest 50 seconds is instrumental)I was not happy as it ended too soon making me wanting for more. The way it started,I was expecting another Tum Ho Toh(Rock On) from the Farhan Akhtar and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy combination.

A remix of each Ik Junoon(Paint it red) and Senorita gives a perfect ending to the album. Both the remixes are good and provides something different from the originals.

Zinagi na Milegi Dubara is a treat for music lovers, best of 2011 till date.Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy made some fabulous tunes that will be remembered for a long time.Again Hats off to them for portraying pure music where munni, sheila, shaalu ke thumke, jalebi bai and many more exists.
A must hear album, guys don't dare to miss this one!!

Kuch Love Jaisa-Music Review

RATING: ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆

The songs of READY are making a buzz everywhere and Pritam provides another album having the ability to top the charts.

To start with,Pritam brings on his favorite Mohit Chauhan for the title song NAINA with Monali Thakur(Indian Idol -2 and the seductive voice behind Zara Zara touch me-Race) ,the song starts brilliantly with light orchestra and whistling;[starting is a bit similar to BHEEGI SI BHAAGI SI-RAJNEETI];monali thakur is impressive and mohit chauhan is brilliant again(what a soulful voice he has). Its more a Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy genre which needs some time to grow on you.The song has hit written all over it.(The Sound of mouth organ fusioned with whistling is something to hear again and again and again)

Next comes Thoda Sa Pyar,a Signature Pritam composition which has been placed 3 times in the album;the original is sung by sunidhi chauhan and anupam amod, the next is called as Raghav's search for love sung by Mannan Shah(Where in the world does he came from, even google has no records of him but his singing style reminds me of A.R.REHMAN),the last is named as Madhu's search for love sung by Naresh Iyer and shefali. To be honest, the best is Madhu's search for love with added english vocals and Naresh Iyer has sung it beautifully,Raghav's search for love is more of an unplugged version which is also good, but the original number by sunidhi chauhan disappoints me,its passable.

The next track is Baadalon pe paon by Mannan Shah, its a fast pacy number and it goes on the same track as JANNAT YAHA of movie JANNAT,an average composition, neither brilliant nor bad.

The last song is named KHWAB,it also has 2 versions, one is named ROCK and other is Raghav's Confession,Nikhil D'souza is the vocalist in both the versions.Nikhil is a must when the composer is Pritam.[I personally believe that K.K is a far far better singer than Nikhil D'souza].Khwab is the best song of the album, the rock version is fantastic with some brilliant guitar being played in the background, the other version doesn't offers something new,its the same song minus the Rock beats.Popularity of the song now depends upon how this song is picturised in the movie.

All the songs are trademark Pritam tunes and will grow with multiple hearings and the way the movie is promoted.
