Decades ago the songs used to say"Ye raatein ye mausam nadi ka kinara ye chanchal hawa".After that there was an era of GULZAAR's writing.Now rarely he writes songs(1 out 20 movies),only vishal bhardwaj uses the work of gulzaar in his movies at present(raat ke dhai baje,koi shehnai baje-only gulzaar can write such lines).One thing that makes gulzaar sahab's writing strike is SIMPLICITY and using the words that we use in our day-to-day gossips.
The songs of SAATHIYA(combination of A.R.REHMAN and GULZAAR-"DEADLY") finds a special place in my directory due to the soulful lyrics.There is a song in the movie called Chupke se having lyrics like "FEBRUARY KI SARDIYO KI DHOOP ME,MOONDI MOONDI ANKHIYON SE DEKHNA"..only one word comes in my mind"wow".
After a long long time I heard lyrics which reminds me of early days of gulzaar writings, and the one person who has the capability to compete with gulzaar(not actually) is Neelesh Misra,his writing skills has the same simplicity[listen I Am in love-Once Upon a Time in Mumbai,Maine dil se kaha dhoond lana khushi-Rog].I feel lucky to be born in era where legends like gulzaar and people like neelesh misra exists.Here is a recent song from the album REWIND by neelesh misra-
